There are thousands of search engines out there, which ones should I pay attention to? Most of them are for specialized industries or regions of the world and are marginally used in the US. Once you weed them out you end up with the US major search engines that we all know well.

If you browse the web you will find many studies showing the market share of each of those search engines. The numbers vary a bit from study to study but the main take away is that Google is used for about two thirds of the US internet searches; this does not leave much for Bing, Yahoo, Ask, and AOL. Since my customers deal with the realities of limited time and budget, I usually recommend them to optimize their website primarily for Google.
Please visit this blog and my affordable SEO web page for more information about the search engines and how to use them. If needed, do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help.
